A property development chief at the heart of the £333 million project to build The Event Complex Aberdeen (Teca) has jumped ship as the new events and conference venue nears completion.

Robertson Group, the lead contractor for the development, said yesterday it had appointed Nick Harris for the newly created role of executive director in its property business.

Born and raised near Aberdeen, Mr Harris has held leadership roles at some of the country’s largest property firms, including more than a decade at Henry Boot Developments, where he most recently served as director for its operations in Scotland.

He has played a key role in several high-profile projects, including the development of Teca and two new hotels on a 130acre site at Buxburn.

“Nick has earned his stripes in leadership”

based Robertson said he came to it with 25 years of industry experience and “strategic insight” at a crucial time for the business as it continues to develop its commercial portfolio.

Robertson chief executive Derek Shewan added: “Nick has earned his stripes in leadership roles across Scotland’s property sector, building up an impressive knowledge of the industry which he will use to oversee and develop our commercial portfolio.

“Nick’s knowledge and guidance will allow us to further expand our client offering, which includes asset management, regeneration, funding solutions and property development.”

Mr Harris said he was looking forward to “getting under the skin of the business” and raising Robertson’s profile.
