Hypocrisy of our young jet-setters

SIR, – I am pleased to see that the schools in both Scotland and south of the border are now on their summer holidays. So we are getting a break from school climate strikes in the news. No doubt many of the children are at a loose end and can’t wait for the holiday to end so that they can get back to demonstrating.

I have an idea for the meantime. When their parent tells them to pack their suitcase for their annual jetaway, why don’t they refuse to go, and explain to their parents how aviation is one of the fastestgrowing sources of greenhouse gases? Geoff Moore, Braeface Park, Alness, Highland
