Now in its 155th year, the Turriff Show attracts more than 23,000 people from all walks of life.

Judges from the length and breadth of the British Isles will cast their eye over 2,687 different species and breeds.

The event hosts some of the best livestock exhibits in the UK and this year has 800 sheep, 289 cattle and 720 horse and pony entries, with £88,000 in prize money and 320 trophies being awarded.

Other entries include a staggering 345 pigeons, 158 rabbits, 71 cavies, 73 goats, and nine collie dogs.

Down in the sheep lines, the show will play host to the Bleu Du Maine National Sheep Show with 44 entries and exhibitors travelling from as far south as Renfrewshire. In addition, a new section has been added to the sheep contest.

“Blue Texels are quickly gaining popularity with commercial sheep farmers as terminal sires for prime lamb production and with this, the show has seen an increase of entries for the breed over the last few years and have introduced a new category for 2019,” said show president, Graeme Mackie.

With more than 300 trade stands, including one from main show sponsor Agrii, the event also gives visitors the opportunity to see the latest innovations, technology and machinery for the land-based, food and renewables sectors.

Agrii’s Charlie Catto said: “As a business we are committed to supporting the agricultural community in the north-east of Scotland and through sponsorship of the show we hope that visitors will be more confident in addressing the farming challenges of today and tomorrow with knowledge and confidence.”

Next month’s show will also feature the new EQ Food & Drink Pavilion, which will host 50 stands. They will feature some of the best produce from farmers, growers and makers.

Gates will open from 7am-6pm each day and discounted tickets can be purchased via the Turriff Show website at www. turriffshow.org. Children under 15 can attend for free.
