THE HUE FOR YOU
If there’s one colour we don’t wear enough, it’s pink. Philippa Gerrard is on a mission to change that
We often sing the praises of neutrals and classic colours like black and navy, but there’s a place in every wardrobe for something a bit bolder. When it comes to pink, people are afraid it’s too bright, too girly or too cutesy to wear past the age of 12, but that’s where they’re wrong. Wearing pink like a grown-up is surprisingly simple.
It may be a hue usually associated with Barbie, but there are hundreds of ways to incorporate it into your wardrobe.
In fact, it’s often less about what style or shade the item is and more about the way you style it.
The easiest way to buy into the trend is by accessorising.
You can add a jolt of the cheery hue to your outfit with almost any add-on under the sun: a scarf, pair of shoes or a bag are particularly good for giving an old outfit an instant pink update.
Alternately, a soft, girly hue feels far more approachable than its punchier siblings and it looks great in big or small doses.
It’s flattering on a range of skin tones and works best in pretty pieces like a pleated blouse or full-length swishy dress.
But if you’re keen to go all out in head-to-toe pink, a bolder hue is a must. Opt for a bright fuchsia jumpsuit or two-piece co-ord to really nail the look and watch the compliments role in at your next big event.
