Climbers airlifted off Ben Nevis

-

Two climbers were airlifted off the UK’s highest mountain yesterday after getting stuck on Ben Nevis’s North Face.

The two men were at the Douglas Boulder on the Tower Ridge ascent when they became cragfast and phoned for help.

Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team (MRT) were alerted around 2.30pm, but the Inverness-based coastguard search and rescue helicopter managed to find a break in the weather and winch them off.

In another mountain rescue yesterday, eight members of Glencoe MRT took an injured hiker by quad bike off Buchaille Etive Beag, on the edge of Rannoch Moor.

The team were called out at 2.50pm. The woman, who had suffered an ankle injury, was taken to the Belford Hospital in Fort William.
