Man accused of sexual assaults

A 43-year-old man is on trial at Inverness Sheriff Court accused of sexually assaulting five women at an address in Nairn.

Four of the alleged assaults are said to have taken place between July 2 and July 5 2015.

A fifth charge alleges that on various occasions he sexually assaulted another woman between June 1 2014 and August 30 2014.

It is claimed that on July 5 2015 Christiano Ferreira abducted one woman, locked her in a cupboard and sexually assaulted her.

The other charges claim that for sexual gratification or humiliation purposes, he groped the women, kissed or attempted to kiss them, handled their buttocks over clothing and cuddled or attempted to place his arms around them and pulled them against his body.

Ferreira is defended by advocate Bill Adam.

The trial, before Sheriff Margaret Neilson, is expected to last four days.
