Tourists’ vessel saved by lifeboat

A tourist passenger boat with 11 people on board was rescued by a lifeboat today.

The converted fishing vessel hit trouble off the Argyll coast after it fouled its propeller.

The alarm was raised at 2.10pm from the boat which was in Otir Mhor, Bay at Kerrera.

A fish farm vessel stood by and Oban Lifeboat towed the stricken craft and its passengers safely into Oban Harbour.

In another incident, Wick Lifeboat towed a fishing vessel with eight people on board after it broken down off the Caithness coast around 9.40am.

A nearby vessel offered help and towed the trawler part of the way, before handing over to the lifeboat which brought it safely into the harbour.
