Diamond discovery the last action for Toon boss McInally

-

Peterhead manager Jim McInally says his summer wheeling and dealing is done following the signing of free agent Ryan Conroy.

The 32-year-old, who has spent the last two years at Airdrieonians, is set to make his debut for the Blue Toon in tonight’s Challenge Cup tie against Highland League side Formartine United at Balmoor and McInally expects the former Diamond to be his last new arrival of this window.

He said: “Ryan will be the final addition.

“He can play anywhere in the middle of the park but he can also play at left-back which gives us cover there too. He is a good boy whose delivery at set-pieces is very good and his versatility will give us options.”

McInally will use tonight’s cup tie as a chance to freshen up his team.

He said: “Rory McAllister is available again after suspension while Aidam Smith, who missed the 1-1 draw at East Fife on Saturday as he was best man at his brother’s wedding, is also back again so we will be stronger up front.

“The three boys who came off the bench – Scott Hooper, Aaron Norris and Ross Willox – all made an impact in the game so they will all start.

“We want to win every game we play but we also need to make sure everyone gets their chance to their bit and this game will be an opportunity for players to show what they can do.”

Formartine United, meanwhile, have placed Archie Macphee on the transfer list.

United manager Paul Lawson declined to comment on his decision, insisting his focus is tonight’s trip to Balmoor.

He said: “It’s to be expected that we will go into the tie as underdogs as Peterhead were superb last year and were rightly promoted to League 1.

“We know it is going to be a very difficult but we also have some very experienced players.”
