Crash victim’s parents ‘on their knees’
The parents of Harry Dunn are frustrated that the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has made no decision on charging the US suspect in his case.
Tim Dunn and Charlotte Charles are “on their knees” 12 weeks after the 19-year-old died in a head-on collision.
Anne Sacoolas, wife of a US intelligence officer, is believed to have been driving on the wrong side of the road when she hit Mr Dunn’s motorbike outside RAF Croughton on August 27.
She returned to the US and claimed diplomatic immunity. Earlier this month UK police gave the CPS a file of evidence after interviewing her there.
The family were
“Why is there interaction between the FCO and CPS?”
“strongly” led to expect a charging decision this week after talks between their spokesman Radd Seiger and Chief Constable Nick Adderley.
But yesterday the parents said the chief constable told Mr Seiger there is no decision or timeline for one.
Mr Seiger has learned the CPS has liaised with the Foreign Office (FCO) “on the diplomatic immunity position”, yet Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab believes immunity “clearly ended” when Mrs Sacoolas left.
He and the Dunns are at a “loss to understand why there should now be any interaction between the FCO and the CPS”.
