Four people saved from fire in Highland village
Four people were evacuated from a burning house in Ardersier shortly after noon on Saturday.
Six fire engines were sent from Nairn, Inverness, Forres and Dingwall
The building was reported to be “well alight”, with it taking a number of hours before it was extinguished.
Firefighters used jets and breathing apparatus while tackling the blaze.
A cordon was set up around the house, a number of roads in the area were closed, including sections of High Street and
Stuart Street, while gas cylinders were removed from an adjacent store.
By around 2pm, the fire was reported to be under control and contained to the building in which it had begun, but a number of crews remained on scene.
There were no reports of any injuries.
Highland Council welfare officers were contacted about rehousing the four people unable to return to the property.
Operations to damp down the embers continued until after 7pm.
Firefighters returned to the scene on Sunday morning to extinguish a flare-up.
The fire service continued to monitor the scene throughout the day.
