Election fears brushed aside

Belarus’s authoritarian president has dismissed concerns that the country’s parliament election, from which many opposition figures are excluded, would not be free and fair.

President Alexander Lukashenko said: “I’m not in the habit of worrying about this matter,” and his administration “isn’t playing at...democracy”.
