Body found in search for man
Police searching for missing Alness man Calum Mackenzie have recovered a body from a Highland river.
Officers were called to the River Averon at about 4.30pm on Friday following the discovery.
It came as officers were making efforts to trace the 41-year-old, who had last been seen at around 1.45pm, on November 7, in the Dalmore area of Alness.
CCTV images were released as part of a fresh appeal for information to help trace his whereabouts.
In a statement released by police, a spokesman said: “Police in the Highlands can confirm that a body has been recovered from the River Averon in Alness during the search for missing man Calum Mackenzie.”
Mr Mackenzie’s family have been made aware of the discovery.
A post-mortem examination is to take place.
