- BY MICHELLE HENDERSON

Residents in the north are being urged to assist in helping to trace a missing man from Stirlingshire.

Paul Murphy was last seen leaving his home address in Stenhousemuir around 7am on Sunday to go hill walking but has not been seen or heard from since.

The 51-year-old was driving a beige Nissan X-Trail vehicle – registration SM62 BUF – which was last traced to the Cairngorms Ski Centre in Aviemore.

With concerns growing for his welfare, police in the Falkirk district are asking Highland

residents to assist in their bid to trace Mr Murphy.

Sergeant Alyson Bolton, of Forth Valley police, said: “This is very out of character for Paul, who has never gone missing before, and his family want to make sure he is OK.

“We believe he may have travelled to the north-east area and urge anyone who may have seen Paul to contact us.

“Similarly, if Paul is reading this, let us know you are safe and well.”

He is described as 6ft tall, of stocky build with short black hair and facial hair.

He was wearing a dark coloured hill-walking jacket, trousers and boots and was carrying a hill-walking rucksack.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the police on 101.
