Avalanche traps soldiers

An avalanche has hit a military post on a Himalayan glacier in the disputed Kashmir region and at least eight Indian soldiers are trapped under snow, a spokesman for the Indian army said.

Lieutenant Colonel Devender Anand said the avalanche struck yesterday in the northern part of the Siachen Glacier.
