Lochside living in luxurious lodges
Two opportunities to buy great properties in a dream Highland location, writes Susan Welsh RURAL LIVING
Could there be anything more romantic in winter than coming home to a substantial log cabin, surrounded by woods yet enjoying breathtaking views over Loch Ness?
The dark loch and brooding, snow-covered mountains look especially good when viewed from the warmth of a hot tub.
Sounds like a fantasy doesn’t it?
But there’s not one but two opportunities to buy such a home – two log cabins built and designed to make the most of their scenic location.
The Lodges on the Loch complex at The Turns, Foyers, has two wooden lodges for sale, both enjoying magnificent positions within an idyllic, hillside location on the south side of Loch Ness.
Originally built and designed as self-catering properties, the lodges would suit those looking for an investment property with excellent rental potential.
Lodge Number Five has full residential status, while Lodge Number Three has planning restrictions.
Both lodges have been designed to make best use of both the indoor and outdoor space and feature accommodation spread across two floors.
Access is from a side door which leads into a bright and airy open-plan living space incorporating the kitchen, dining area and sitting room.
The kitchen is modern and comes with a host of integrated appliances, while the lounge end of the room has a gas stove and a set of double doors leading out on to a lovely timber decked balcony.
A great place for entertaining and relaxing, it includes the aforementioned hot tub and a barbecue area.
The ground floor has two double bedrooms, one of which has a WC, the other has access to a Jack and Jill shower room which can also be reached from the hall.
From the sitting room, a staircase leads up to a superb mezzanine lounge area with vaulted ceiling and a balcony.
The master bedroom has a spacious en suite with bath, walk-in shower, WC, wash hand basin and heated towel rail.
Within easy reach of the lodges, which are on the market at offers over £250,000 each, is the village of Foyers which has a cafe/restaurant, Post Office, primary school and shop and home to the spectacular 140ft waterfall, the Falls of Foyers.
