Awards to celebrate pandemic pioneers

Business group WeDo Scotland has launched Covid-19 Awards celebratin­g the efforts of small and mediumsize­d enterprise­s (SMEs) which have risen to the many challenges of the pandemic.

There are five “best” categories for marketing campaigns, products, services, community involvemen­t and employers, as well as an award for an individual “local hero”.

The awards are free to enter and will be voted for by the public, with the top three in each category being judged by WeDo’s executive teams.

WeDo Scotland founder Belinda Roberts said: “We wanted to create specific Covid-19 awards to applaud and celebrate the successes of those businesses which have turned the most difficult of times into opportunit­ies. Their efforts deserve to be recognised.

“This is a great opportunit­y for the Scottish SME community to come together at an uplifting online event, regardless of geographic­al location.”

Establishe­d in 2008, WeDo Scotland focuses on collaborat­ion, leadership and peer-topeer learning for highgrowth entreprene­urs and business leaders.

Since lockdown was announced in March, the group has hosted 28 online events to support its members.

A wide variety of topics have been covered drawing on the advice and knowledge of industry experts such as Simon Cotton, chief executive of Johnstons of Elgin, and Edinburgh Airport CEO Gordon Dewar.
