Man treated in hospital after high-rise fire

A man was taken to hospital yesterday afternoon after a small fire at a high-rise flat in Seaton.

Three fire engines were sent to the blaze at Northsea Court.

A spokeswoma­n for the fire and rescue service said it had started in the kitchen and crews had the situation under control within about 30 minutes.

She said: “The small fire in the kitchen was dealt with quickly after the removal of the heat source.”

Police Scotland and the ambulance service were also sent to the scene to support the fire and rescue service.

The ambulance service said that after receiving a call at 12.35pm, a 56-yearold man had been taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

He had been conscious and was breathing when they arrived.

A spokeswoma­n for Police Scotland said the incident was not being treated as suspicious.
