Nasty business of dog dirt left behind

-

SIR, – Friday May 29 marked the first phase of easing the pandemic lockdown here in Scotland.

A small step, but a much needed opportunity to get out of town for daily exercise.

My wife and I headed to a woodland walk area on the outskirts of Aberdeen.

We set off on a path absorbing the sights, scents and sounds of nature, then horror: in the middle of the path sat what Billy Connolly would call a “jobby bag”.

This practice of some dog walkers defies any logic and must rank among the most irrational behaviour on Earth.

Why do people go to the trouble of taking poo bags from their abode only to discard the used bag on a path, tree, bush or fence when there are usually collection bins placed at the walk starting and finishing points?

This disrespectful, unlawful and disgusting practice is unacceptably common and it needs to stop.

If bins are unavailable, or they are full, then please take the bag home for disposal.
