Cyclist performs stunt on empty city streets

Trails and stunt biker Joe Urquhart has showed off his skills by posting his latest trick online.

Taking advantage of the lockdown restrictions, and partial closure of Aberdeen’s Union Street, the 21-year-old attempted to manual from Union Terrace to Market Street.

The impressive wheelie, which requires no pedalling, was filmed on Tuesday evening and took two hours to perfect after the rider came close on a number of earlier tries.

Mr Urquhart said: “I was eager to attempt the stunt because the city centre was deserted and the fog provided an eerie atmosphere which added to the ghost town effect lockdownhascaused.

“The idea came about when myself and a friend were going for a typical ride.

“We normally go from point to point where there are walls, railings and various other street furniture we can hop on to or gap from one to the other. Essentially parkour but on a trials bike.”

The video has been watched more than 2,000 times since being uploaded to Facebook and Instagram.

The Clan Cycle Stunt Team performer made headlines last summer after performing a number of tricks at the disused Tarlair Pool near Macduff.
