Parents need clear signal on schools

-

SIR, – With only weeks to go before Scottish children return to school there seems to be complete confusion over what the proposed “blended learning” approach will mean for children and their parents, with estimates ranging from one to three days school attendance.

This makes it impossible for parents to plan around their job responsibilities and care for their children, not to mention how teachers are going to cope with delivering two types of education and trying to monitor and operate both.

Education Secretary John Swinney needs to urgently define exactly what “blended learning” will mean and follow the lead from the private schools sector who seem to know what they are doing in practical terms of delivering education.

These Scottish children will be remembered in future years as the “Corona Kids” who were denied full education and exam status.
