Run Wild can tame rivals

Selections: Gosden filly looks promising at Royal Ascot

- BY DERRY ALLDRITT

Run Wild can assert herself as a Group horse in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot this afternoon.

The filly put in a stunning performance to win a Listed race at Newmarket under hands and heels in her seasonal reappearance.

The three-year-old by littleknown sire Amaron looks capable of improving again as she takes on some tougher rivals in Alpine Star and Quadrilateral, who are both proven at Group level.

Run Wild looks like she will be an uncomplicated ride for jockey James Doyle who can let her push on to an early lead and dictate the pace of the race from the front.

Admiral Nelson won many admirers in his debut at the Curragh, winning cosily over five furlongs.

The Kingman colt will probably be at his best over a mile in time but with plenty of speed in his pedigree the sixfurlong trip in today’s Coventry Stakes should be an adequate step up for his second start.

Undefeated at two, Pinatubo disappointed in his first run as a three-year-old.

The Godolphin stable star only managed third place in the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket, failing to win the Classic and denting his reputation as racing’s next superstar.

Pinatubo should be fitter for today’s St James’s Palace Stakes and could restore his status as the miler to beat if he can reverse form with Wichita, who nearly landed a massive gamble in the Guineas.

Palace Pier is the unexposed horse in the Group One but will have to be very good to mix it with the market leaders.

Blue Mist can run well for Roger Charlton in the Silver Wokingham Stakes.

The gelding came an eyecatching third in a handicap at the meeting last year and returns to Royal Ascot on a 1lb lower mark.

Jockey Jason Watson will look to make the most of his favourable high draw and get good position near the stand’s side rail.

Under a positive ride, a win in the Class 2 handicap over six furlongs is well within the horse’s capabilities.
