TRANSFERS: HOW FANTASTIC IT WOULD BE TO SEE A CLUB LEGEND BACK PLAYING IN DONS COLOURS
It was great to see the Dons back in training this week, albeit in somewhat unusual fashion – and it must have been quite a relief for the players to set foot on the Cormack Park training pitches again.
It will be a slow return to full sharpness, but the guys all have natural fitness these days and they will be ready in time for the big kick-off.
By then, I would hope that Jonny Hayes will be back in the fold. He remains an Aberdeen legend and would be a superb addition to the squad. The Irishman will be 33 next month, but still has his pace, despite the long-term injury lay-off while with Celtic – and he knows the club insideout.
Unlike other potential signings, Jonny is a known quantity, one who will quickly settle in and who would add quality, giving Derek another excellent option.
