Fishing alert system launch

FLTC Services, the operational part of the Fisheries Offshore Oil and Gas Legacy Trust Fund, has launched a new version of innovative technology aimed at alerting fishers to the presence of oil and gas infrastructure.

FishSAFE Mk3 includes major improvements, such as a high-resolution touch screen and trackball option. It updates its internal hazards database automatically from the internet and there is also an online messaging facility.

FLTC Services said feedback from skippers who have trialled the new units, which are available only to fishers in the UK fleet, had been “very positive”.
