Funding available for community groups
Community groups in Fraserburgh are being encouraged to apply for cash from the Co-op Local Community Fund.
Local stores support three causes through the fund each year, with
Y Suffer in Silence, the Parkinson’s Fraserburgh Support Group and Rosehearty Bowling Club the town’s current beneficiaries.
Every time members shop at Co-op, 1% of what they spend on own-brand products helps to fund projects in their local area.
To be considered, projects must benefit the local area by either bringing the community together to help those in need or providing access to lifestyle essentials such as spaces, food and bereavement support.
Groups that support mental and physical health are also eligible to apply.
Co-op member pioneer in the town Jacqueline Winton said: “Last month
I was able to support colleagues as they delivered £400 of food to the Fraserburgh Salvation Army foodbank thanks to donations from the public.”
Applicants have until midnight on June 28 to submit their application online.
