Building site raid prompts security warning

-

Businesses have been urged to review their security after a highvalue theft from a Moray building site.

About £5,000-worth of goods were taken from the compound near Whiterow in the south of Forres.

Thieves broke in between noon on Sunday June 14 and 7.30am the following day, with several items stolen.

Police were unable to provide further details on what had been taken during the raid.

However, officers have encouraged firms to take extra precautions to prevent similar incidents from happening elsewhere.

PC Megan Green has encouraged anyone who saw something suspicious at the time of the Forres theft to contact police.

She said: “Although the site was secured, I would like to take this opportunity to remind businesses and contractors to review their security.

“Make sure that property and equipment is secured as thoroughly as possible and do not leave valuable items unattended and in plain sight, particularly in remote areas.”
