Drivers should expect delays on A9

- BY MICHELLE HENDERSON

Motorists are being advised to expect delays as resurfacing work starts on the A9.

Bear Scotland has invested £230,000 to fix a 0.62 mile (1km) section of the Inverness to Thurso trunk road, south of the Cromarty Bridge.

The project of overnight work will take place between 8pm and 7am each night, with no weekend work planned.

Ground works are expected to be completed by next Friday.

Eddie Ross, Bear’s representative for the area, said: “This £230,000 essential resurfacing project will upgrade the existing road surface on the A9 at Cromarty, greatly improving the quality and safety for road users.

“We thank motorists for their patience in advance”

“We’ve changed our ways of working to ensure all staff and the local community are kept safe at all times, and all personnel will be subject to strict physical distancing protocols in line with Scottish Government guidance.

“We thank motorists for their patience in advance and would also encourage them to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.”

A 10mph convoy system will be in place during the work, with a 30mph restriction during the day as vehicles travel on a temporary surface.

During the project the B9163 Conon Bridge junction and the B9163 Cromarty junction will be closed overnight.

A signed diversion route will be in place along the B9169 via the Culbokie Junction and the B9169 via the Easter Kinkell Junction, and then the A835.
