RGU hails strong showing in new university guide

Robert Gordon University ( RGU) has hailed its strong performance in a new rankings table, days after controversially being placed as the lowest in Scotland in a different guide.

Of all the Scottish universities rated in the Times Higher Education guide last week, the Aberdeen institution fell into last place.

But university bosses have now welcomed a different report which offers a more positive verdict.

RGU has leaped up the table in the Guardian University Guide for 2021, from 76th to 43rd best in the UK, scoring strongly for student satisfaction and teaching quality.

It also retained its place as the top modern university in Scotland.

R G U ’s principal, Professor Steve Olivier, said: “A significant factor is that our students are at the centre of the university’s approach to design and delivery of teaching and learning.

“They have the opportunity to help shape the curriculum and the support they are provided with, ensuring the learning experience is responsive to their needs.

“Our performance in teaching satisfaction demonstrates the quality of provision at RGU and the strong dedication of our staff.”

RGU is ranked fourth in the UK and second in Scotland for course satisfaction and 12 th in the UK for teaching quality.
