SIR, – Preferential treatment for central Scotland over other areas of the country, including the north-east, is not new.

Nicola Sturgeon noted her disappointment at thoughts

that her decision-making about Covid-19 restrictions had been influenced by party politics. What else are people to think when her programme for government is giving priority to proceeding with legislation to enable separation of Scotland from the UK?

People are already suffering considerable stress due to Covid-19. The threat of another divisive campaign such as we had in 2014 will only increase the stress.
