SNP will pay for stance on fishing rights

-

SIR, – In Westminster during the Fisheries Bill debate on Tuesday, it became very clear where the SNP stand on how important the fishing industry is to Scotland.

The purpose of the bill is for the UK to become a “coastal state’’, taking back the total control of UK fishing grounds, and being freed from the dreadful CFP.

The UK would be in control of the UK fishing grounds and able to grant access and quota to EU fishing states.

The SNP tried to scupper the Fisheries Bill and wants to hand our fishing grounds back to the EU, placing the UK back under the control of the European Court of Justice. In the Brexit vote we chose to leave.

The SNP is betraying the people of Scotland by trying to trade our fishing grounds as Ted Heath did back in 1973. I’m sure this will not be forgotten by those in our Scottish fishing communities when they come to vote at next year’s election, for they deserve better.
