Lawfirm reports £56.9m turnover

Scottish-headquarte­red law firm Shepherd and Wedderburn has reported 2% turnover growth to £56.9 million in the year to April 30, with profits before partner distributi­ons down 1.7% to £22.4m.

Its clean energy group achieved record revenues during the period, up 54% on the previous year.

The firm’s corporate finance team advised on deals with an aggregate value of more than £6 billion in the year to December 2019 and its banking and finance team advised on 276 deals with a cumulative value of £64.6bn in the 12 months to the end of this April, a year-on-year increase of 65%.

Among notable deals the firm advised on during the year was the £300m sale of assets in Senegal by its longstandi­ng client, Cairn Energy.
