Aberdeen forward Michael Ruth has joined Arbroath on loan for the 2020-21 campaign.

The 18-year-old attacker has also signed a one-year contract extension which will keep him at Pittodrie until the summer of 2022.

Ruth joined the Dons from Queen’s Park last summer, where had scored one goal in 10 appearances.

He scored 17 goals last season and was named the club’s development player of the year.

In his first season with the Dons, he helped Paul Sheerin’s side reach the final of the Reserve Cup and helped the under-18s reach the SFA Youth Cup final, scoring both goals against Rangers in the semi-final. He made his first-team debut in a friendly game in Dubai against Jordanian side AlWehdat SC during the 2019 winter training camp.

Ruth joins up with Dons team-mate Miko Virtanen who has returned to Gayfield for a second loan spell this season.
