Less independence by rejoining the EU
Sir, – As an Englishman recently relocated to Scotland, I well understand the desire here for more independence. But why the desire to join the EU under less favourable terms than staying within the UK?
That would mean even less independence and fewer benefits than now. It would also mean switching to the euro, which is slowly but surely losing its value against the pound (1.16 is today’s exchange rate).
Why not develop more trade with the EU via Northern Ireland and the Republic and benefit from their established export/ import agencies? Perhaps Boris Johnson will agree to fund a bridge/tunnel? David Page, Queen Street, Lossiemouth.
