Fi­bre 1 of­fers first for Scot­land

An El­gin-based com­pany has put it­self in pole po­si­tion in the race to in­tro­duce faster on­line down­load speeds.

Fi­bre 1 says its new prod­ucts of­fer­ing ul­tra fast broad­band con­nec­tions for busi­nesses are the first of their kind to be of­fered in Scot­land.

The firm was launched at the start of 2017 by man­ag­ing di­rec­tor Ste­wart Macdonald, who had sold his pre­vi­ous telecoms busi­ness, Net­datate, to Chess three years ear­lier.

It now em­ploys six peo­ple has at­tracted busi­ness from “Lon­don to Stornoway”.

Last year, Fi­bre 1 in­tro­duced its own ded­i­cated fi­bre net­work and it has also es­tab­lished part­ner­ships with com­pa­nies in­clud­ing Pangea, Talk Talk busi­ness, City Fi­bre and Metronet.

Among the prod­ucts launched by Fi­bre 1, is G.fast, which al­lows ul­tra fast broad­band speeds us­ing the same cop­per pip­ing that is used for voice calls. The firm has also in­tro­duced a fi­bre-to-the-premises, on-de­mand broad­band prod­uct.

Ul­tra fast broadand is ex­pected to reach more than 10mil­lion UK busi­nesses by 2021.
