First min­is­ter against vote for all pris­on­ers

ques­tion from Tory MSP Murdo Fraser she em­pha­sised she was not in favour of giv­ing all pris­on­ers the vote.

Mr Fraser raised the view of John Muir, a cam­paigner for vic­tims of crime whose son Damien was stabbed to death in Greenock in 2007, that such a move would be an “ob­scen­ity” and an “in­sult”.

Ms Stur­geon said: “The Scot­tish Par­lia­ment will need to con­sider how to en­sure com­pli­ance with the Eu­ro­pean Court of Hu­man Rights rul­ing. But I have to say I am not of the view this should lead to the en­fran­chis­ing of all pris­on­ers.”
