Ori­en­teer­ing suc­cess­for schoolpupils

There was suc­cess for a num­ber of north-east pupils at the Scot­tish schools ori­en­teer­ing fes­ti­val at Pol­lock Park on Fri­day.

Sam Grif­fin (Aberdeen Gram­mar) won the S2 boys’ course while Matthew Gooch (Ban­chory Acad­emy) won the S3 divi­sion and Alis­tair Chap­man (Ban­chory Acad­emy) won the S5-6 course.

There was also north-east suc­cess in the team com­pe­ti­tions with wins for Ban­chory school in the P5-6 boys’ race ( Yan Newey, Owen Camp­bell, Bea Rich­mond) and S5-6 boys’ race (Alis­tair Chap­man, Luke Gra­ham, John Getliff ). Gram­mar came away with sil­ver medals in the S2 boys’ com­pe­ti­tion (Sam Grif­fin, Pa­trick Lang, Rory Halliday) with Aboyne Acad­emy third (Joel Gooch, Ewan Mus­grave, Dou­glas Ste­wart).
