Thieves steal till from car­a­van park

Hun­dreds of pounds has been stolen from a Mo­ray hol­i­day park af­ter thieves struck dur­ing the night.

Two men broke into the re­cep­tion area at the West Beach Car­a­van Park in Hope­man at about 2am yes­ter­day.

The bungling raiders switched off the CCTV cam­era sys­tem inside the build­ing to make their es­cape, but had al­ready been caught on the film mak­ing their way to the cash.

Last night, car­a­van park owner Barry Scott re­vealed about £300 was taken by the thieves but ex­plained it could have been worse.

He added: “We had it

emp­tied not long be­fore so there wasn’t that much in it.

“A lot of pay­ments are by card now any­way.

“There were a lot of 50p and 20p coins though, maybe about £50 worth – so they might try to get rid of them in some way.

“We caught them on CCTV at about 1.50am, then the sys­tem was switched off inside the build­ing at about 2.05am, prob­a­bly so they wouldn’t be filmed go­ing away.”

Two men were caught on the footage mak­ing their way to the car­a­van park from Har­bour Street down the steps.

One man was wear­ing black train­ers, grey trousers and a shiny black jacket.

The other was wear­ing com­bat trousers and a black short-sleeved T-shirt.
