The Press and Journal (Moray) - - LOCAL NEWS -

The four latest planning applications within Culloden Conservation Area include proposals for 13 holiday lodges with a restaurant and shop.

Developers Inverness Paving aim to transform the former Treetops Riding Centre at Balloch into a fourstar visitor destination featuring “high-quality” lodges and a 100-seat restaurant, claiming it could create up to 25 jobs.

The others applications include plans for a farmhouse at Muirfield Farm, Westhill, a detached house and garage at Leanach on Culloden Moor, and a shed for agricultural and storage use at Woodside, Westhill – though this is understood to have since been withdrawn.

These come on the back of a 16-home development at Viewhill, by Inverurie-based Kirkhill Homes, being approved by a Scottish Government Reporter after being refused by Highland Council.

There is meanwhile a planning application for a temporary marketing suite for the Viewhill project, which NTS is objecting to.
