Cash­back for com­mu­ni­ties: Young reap ben­e­fits

One Aberdeen pro­ject which ben­e­fited from the Cash for Com­mu­ni­ties fund is the Dyce all-weather pitch which opened in 2016 with the help of £300,000 from Cash­back for Com­mu­ni­ties.

The 3G pitch is used by Dyce Acad­emy pupils and the wider com­mu­nity in­clud­ing Dyce Boys Foot­ball Club, Dyce Ama­teur Foot­ball Club and Dyce Rugby Club. Aberdeen City Coun­cil con­trib­uted £255,000 and £300,000 came from the Scot­tish Gov­ern­ment’s pro­ceeds of crime Cash­back for Com­mu­ni­ties scheme.

Aberdeen Don­side MSP Mark Mac­Don­ald helped drive for­ward the fund­ing and said it was “great” to see the money be­ing rein­vested in the north-east.
