Cashback for communities: Young reap benefits
One Aberdeen project which benefited from the Cash for Communities fund is the Dyce all-weather pitch which opened in 2016 with the help of £300,000 from Cashback for Communities.
The 3G pitch is used by Dyce Academy pupils and the wider community including Dyce Boys Football Club, Dyce Amateur Football Club and Dyce Rugby Club. Aberdeen City Council contributed £255,000 and £300,000 came from the Scottish Government’s proceeds of crime Cashback for Communities scheme.
Aberdeen Donside MSP Mark MacDonald helped drive forward the funding and said it was “great” to see the money being reinvested in the north-east.
