Fogwatt Hall stalwarts call it a day after combined 130 years’ service to community
Two brothers who have tirelessly supported their village hall have retired – after 130 years of combined service. Peter and Archie Mitchell have played an integral part in Fogwatt Hall, each playing different roles over the years.
Peter served as chairman for 17 years before stepping down in 1997, while farmer Archie, who joined the committee in 1948, helped organise events such as the annual Burns supper – for which he also supplied the neeps and tatties.
To mark their contribution, the current members of the Fogwatt Hall Committee decided to place two benches outside which have been dedicated to them.
They were also presented with a bottle of whisky each.
