Barratt’s Ocean living

The Press and Journal (North-East) - - PROPERTY -

According to recent research, today’s first-time buyers are likely to be in their 30s having spent several years saving about £20,000 for a deposit.

This strikes a stark contrast with buyers in the 1960s who, on, average, took their first leap on to the ladder at the tender age of 23.

Indeed, times have changed, and for many young house hunters, home ownership may seem a distant dream. However, the latest records show that firsttime buyers now account for 50% of all transactions – the highest rate for more than a decade.

With thanks to schemes such as Help to Buy, as well as housebuilders including Barratt Homes, which works hard to provide options to suit all budgets in the communities it serves, home ownership has become increasingly accessible for younger buyers.

This is especially the case in Aberdeen where Barratt Homes,’ apartment developments have attracted a flurry of young buyers seeking to secure their own piece of city living.

Boasting a range of one and two-bedroom apartments, Barratt Homes’ Ocean development has proven especially popular, with around half of all purchased homes being snapped up by buyers aged 21-34.

Just minutes from city centre restaurants, shops and amenities, this beachside development ticks many boxes – great location, flexibility and variety.

So, whether a buyer is looking for the perfect entertaining space for their friends and family, a spare room for a flatmate, secure onsite parking or loads of space to work from home, study or hobbies, Ocean could be the ideal choice.

Barratt Homes is marketing a range of apartment types at Ocean, including the Curlew, the Shearwater, the Sandpiper and the Kittiwake, and all are on the market for under £200,000.
