Hold-ups to Aberdeen’s western bypass have prompted further pressure from Laurencekirk junction campaigners for an early start to work on the £24 million flyover project.

A grade-separated crossing for the busy blackspot junction with the A937 to Marykirk and Montrose was announced in 2016.

Conservative MSP Liam Kerr questioned Transport Secretary Michael Matheson on the timetable for the project.

Mr Matheson said progress would depend on the level and nature of representation received in response to the published draft orders and whether a public inquiry is required to deal with any objections.

READY: The southern stretch between Stonehaven and Craibstone could finally be opened to traffic next week
