Enable has looked outstanding on the gallops
ALL of us here at Newmarket are in for a busy and exiting weekend. Out on the gallops first thing then racing here at HQ this afternoon before flying to France for the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe tomorrow.
I have a number of my Racing Club members coming with me and it will be great fun on the Bois de Boulogne. Let’s hope we have a Newmarket-trained winner. It would have been good to have had CRACKSMAN in the line up but he will now wait for the Champion Stakes at Ascot later this month.
ENABLE leads our challenge and she looks certain to go very well under Frankie Dettori. Her last piece of work on the HQ gallops impressed me greatly. She easily disposed of FIRST ELEVEN, himself a decent horse, and showed herself to be in tip top form. She is an exceptional filly and will prove hard to beat.
WILLIAM Haggas is hoping there is little or no rain in Paris as SEA OF CLASS needs fast ground to be at her best.
The daughter of Sea The Stars is in great form and hopefully will be in the shake-up under James Doyle.
With only 8-9 she has all the allowances and James has had a hard week wasting to get down to that weight.
It has cost connections £120,000 to supplement her but with so much prize money on offer it was considered worth while.
NEXT week here at HQ we have our Cesarewitch meeting and I hope many of you will be in attendance.
The Dewhurst Stakes is looking a very nice contest with some exciting types to contest this event.
Trainer Ed Vaughan still has juvenile MAGIC J in the race.
He says it is a big step up in class for a second run but still has it under consideration.
If not, the son of Scat Daddy could go for a Group 1 in France or the Rockingham at York.
In any event the master of Machell Place stables rate this colt top class, and has no doubt he could turn out to to be the best animal he has ever trained.
