Cheltenham pots a brand new venture
CHELTENHAM racecourse is expanding its portfolio by hosting snooker’s World Grand Prix next February in the Centaur.
Tickets are already on sale for the seven day tournament which will see 32 of the sport’s biggest names taking part.
Just over a month before the annual Cheltenham Festival gets under way they will be competing for a total of £375,000 with the winner taking home £100,000.
Barry Hearn, chairman of World Snooker, says: “Cheltenham might be best known for its fabulous horse racing but we want snooker to become synonymous with the venue too.
“When a tournament finds a true home it creates a magical bond. Let’s see if Cheltenham can create that.”
