Kevin’s stud on the market for £2.95m
THE impending sale of a premier stud in South Wales is a poignant reminder of the loss to racing of popular breeder and owner Kevin Mercer who has died.
He enjoyed his greatest success with Zanzibar, trained by Michael Bell, in the Italian Oaks.
Mercer and his wife Susan created Usk Valley Stud from two adjoining farms in Monmouthshire. Set in 136 acres it is on the market for £2.95m.
In addition, mares and yougsters bred at the stud are due to go under the hammer at Tattersalls.
