Newland plots coup
DR RICHARD Newland is riding high with 44 winners yielding almost £500,000 in prize money so far this season.
The former GP is targeting a second success in the Grand National following the triumph in 2014 of Pineau De Re which he owned with John Provan. This time their hopes rest on Abolitionist who returned from a long absence caused by a persistent pelvic injury to win over hurdles at Aintree on November 10. Next up for the horse is the Becher Chase.
Another ready victory by Abolitionist on Saturday could have bookies running for cover four month’s ahead of the 2019 Grand National.
