Irish fans’ TV moan

The Racing Paper - - Trends And Diary -

JUMPS fans who rely heavily on Racing TV to follow their favourite sport are understandably concerned at the impossibly crowded fixture programme on New Year’s day.

That date marks the controversial switch of coverage of all Irish race meetings from ATR to Racing TV in addition to the cards they already transmit in this country.

Viewers will not know which way to turn as races at Cheltenham, Exeter, Musselburgh and Catterick will be shoe-horned on one channel between jumps meetings at Fairyhouse and Tramore.

The mood in Ireland is downbeat at the changes with the fiercest criticism reserved for the media executives who allowed the coverage of Irish races to slip out of the hands of ATR.
