ALEX HAS WINNING TOUCH ON SKY RACING

The Racing Paper - - Opinion -

ALEX HAMMOND lit up a New Year’s Day modest offering on Sky Sports Racing of six race cards from Fakenham and Southall.

Sky stalwart for 15 years, racing nut Hammond was the ideal in-house choice to lead a largely At The Races proven team of regulars. She is now the only female top anchor of a daily live programme.

Understandably the fivehour Racing Live centrepiece with six pundits was a tentative, nervy opening but still highly promising.

Bizarrely, a solid five minutes of adverts opened the show. In all there were 23 breaks, some of them seemed interminable, but all better than forking out around £300 annually for RTV.

Captions were innovative and clear, so was sparkling HD along with in-race timing and super slow-motion finish-line replays; though, please Alex, generally let those run back down the field for added info.

SSR under Hammond, are welcome in my home – The Trap – and, I trust, yours.

Ideal: Alex Hammond
