‘County’ project ready to order 4-4-0’s cylinders

-

THE Churchward County Trust (CCT) is on the cusp of placing an order for two new cylinders for its re-creation of GWR ‘County’ 4-4-0 No. 3840 County of Montgomery.

Design work for the inside steam pipe’s 18in x 30in cylinder blocks was completed by

Stafford Road Design in early April, and quotes have been received for the two polystyrene patterns and for the casting of the two cylinders.

However, the ongoing lockdown has meant the order cannot currently be placed, but the CCT hopes to complete this as soon as something like normal service resumes.

The CCT has launched a Cylinders Club (RM March) to help raise the required £45,000 through 45 supporters, each donating £1,000. This can be made as a one-off donation or through a monthly standing order of £25 per month for 40 months, £50 per month for 20 months or £100 per month for 10 months.

Full details of how to support the appeal can be found at: www.churchwardcounty.org.uk/ cylindersclub/
