Engine shed at Steamworks
THE structure of the timber-built engine shed at the Southwold Railway Trust’s Steamworks site has been completed by contractors.
Volunteers will finish the building by fitting the main doors and wall vent.
The building incorporates what will become a metal-working shop.
Restoration of ex-Manx Northern Railway Cleminson six-wheel coach N. 42 is progressing at Steamworks, with the distinctive diagonalboarded floor refurbished and glazing of the vehicle, including leather drop window straps and fittings, completed.
The trust hopes two of the compartments will be completed sufficiently to be displayed to visitors this year.
