Regional transport hub for Motherwell

WORK on a new £14.5million regional transport hub at Motherwell station is set to begin this summer.

The project will see the redevelopm­ent of the station building, concourse and forecourt area, improving links between bus and train services as well as reducing congestion.

Other improvemen­ts will include better ticket and catering facilities, refurbishe­d toilets and waiting facilities, better pedestrian and cycling access and new facilities for taxis, car drop-offs and disabled parking.

The project will be delivered in two phases, with work on the station redevelopm­ent due to start this summer, and the transport integratio­n works following in 2021.
